snow.

So, last Friday night we made the two-hour drive to Helen, spent a total of eighteen hours exploring the little town, and then made the spontaneous decision to drive home so that we could play in this:

The whole week before we left, the weatherman predicted a few inches of snow to fall during our weekend in north Georgia, but what he really meant was that the snow would skip over us and fall on our home in Greenville. After already slipping into a depression about our lack of fun in Helen coupled with the thought of missing out on snow, we packed our bags and headed home a day early. If you don't know much about the Bargerons, let me tell you this: we love snow. So, of course, we came home to throw snowballs at each other, build a snowman, and eat it right out of our hands. Praise the Lord for the blizzard of 2013!

anna ruby falls.

This was our Saturday morning adventure right outside of Helen. Anna Ruby Falls was a breath-taking waterfall that was one hundred and fifty-three foot drop formed from Curtis Creek. It was a short trek to get to it, which we were thankful for, and the trail followed the creek all the way to the falls. As always, it was incredible to just hang out in creation with my husband. I'm so unbelievably grateful for our time spent out on the trails each month, and I look forward to waking up early on a Saturday, for what some would say, just to go walk through some dirt.

Anna Ruby Falls, you did not disappoint, and we're so happy to have met you!

helen.

For this year's Valentine's Day getaway tradition, we chose the cute little town of Helen, Georgia. The buildings made us feel like we were in Germany, and the food was delicious. We stayed at The Helendorf Inn, right on Main Street, which gave us easy access to all the shops and restaurants along the strip. It was a nippy day, but the sun felt so good when the breeze let up every few minutes.

I love that we got to check another "Place to Visit" off of our Bargeron Bucket List, but I think that will be the only time we visit Helen. It might have been more fun on a summer day when there are more things to do, but we weren't too impressed with the most of the stores. Honestly, most of our laughter came with how disappointed we were--smiling through the pain, you know. Nevertheless, at least that's one more place we can say our feet have trod. :)

samson.

Meet Samson.

We've had the privilege of sharing our home with this handsome fella since we moved in October. He's fourteen years old, blind, deaf, and the sweetest little old guy around. When the weather permits, we take him for walks around our neighborhood, and my camera is always around my shoulder awaiting a good shot. This day, in particular, the sun was shining and it was an ideal Wednesday afternoon for some wandering. I love this huge magnolia tree, and it was the perfect backdrop for a photoshoot with our man, Samson, as the main model.

Mmm, I love days like that.

best one yet.

This, my friends, is absolutely, positively, hands-down the best rennovation yet. Allow me to introduce you to the before and after pictures of our living room. I hope this makes you as excited as it makes me!

...(drum roll please)...

Teesh, with the help and guidance of Troy, successfully closed in the door behind our couch in the living room. I am hopelessly smitten! This was a four-week process, and it tickles me to the bone every time I walk through the front door and look to my left. Aside from the pictures I'm m in, I took all of them, which makes it that much more special. The are thirty-five of our most favorite photographs hanging above our couch, and I hope I always catch myself gazing at them at random moments throughout the day.

where we lay our heads.

We've also updated our room to completion, little by little since we moved onto Brookdale. We changed the color of the room from dark red to bright coral the first week we moved in, but it took a couple more months to make it just how we wanted it. I searched for the perfect compliment pieces to tie in our unique wall color, and I'm so pleased with how it turned out! I love walking into our room! It makes me feel warm and cozy and I just absolutely love it. We switch back and forth between our brown sheets and our light blue sheets, both of which are my favorites

Next up: another new addition to our living room! :)

a touch more of vintage.

The next new addition to our home is the focal point on our mantle in our cutesy living room is the beautifully vintage-esque map in a gorgeous rustic frame. Seriously, I'm so obsessed. My precious friend B. Davis and her husband, Jacob, showed up on my front doorstep holding this in their hands. I nearly passed out from excitement! Since that evening, it has been nestled right above our fireplace so it's the first thing we see every time we walk through the front door.

Isn't she lovely?

our front porch.

You probably haven't even noticed, but it's been a while since I've blogged. With a full schedule most days and a lack of internet since our big move, posting has been forced to become more of a special occasion rather than a daily part of life. I thought it would be nice to start back up again updating y'all on some more home improvements that we've been working on! I don't think I'll ever get tired of doing little things here and there around the house, and each project makes me so thankful for all the people we've got in our lives that will come running to help us at the drop of a hat. We've always known we were blessed, but the further we emerge into adulthood, the more we come to know that it's so, so true.

First up on my list of things to show you are the two newest additions to our porch:

Our precious front porch swing

Our touch-of-homeyness flag

Stay tuned for more updates! :)

valentine's day.

This is what my Valentine's Day will consist of, y'all: my kiddos, my handsome husband, and a Boy Meets World marathon. We've been saying for years that we wanted all the seasons to one of our favorite shows, and this week became the week that our dreams finally came true! Today, I will celebrate with my kiddos all morning and afternoon (which will be awesome), and then I'll come home and prepare for a date with my main man. After our fancy dinner, we'll come home, put on our pajamas, cozy up on the couch, and watch several episodes of one of the shows we both grew up watching, making us feel like little kids again--the very kids I will have just spent most of my day with.

It may not sound like much to you, but, to me, it will be everything. I'll be celebrating in a spirit of thankfulness for the entirety of this day, and I'll wake up tomorrow with a big smile on my face as I recall all the fun I had. It's my third Valentine's Day with my kiddos at City Kids, and my eleventh Valentine's Day with my Troy Jerome. Honestly, though, it will be just like any other day--I have so much love poured out on me on a daily basis that every day feels like Valentine's Day.

May your day be blessed beyond your wildest imagination, and may you know that you are loved more than you can even begin to comprehend by the Creator of the universe, the very One who invented love.

Happy Valentine's Day!
