the savannah bananas.

 three words…

T H E
S A V A N N A H
B A N A N A S

worth the wait, worth the extra money for the VIB experience, worth the H Y P E, worth all the merch we splurged on purely because of endorphins, and deeeefinitely worth basing an entire trip to Savannah around. *slow clap*

this night was the MOST fun, from start to finish. bravo, Bananas! we were fans before, and now we’re a bunch of super fans. what an epic experience! I didn’t feel my best physically going into the game, and I don’t feel so great currently either, but W O W. nothin’ was gonna stop my joy!

p.s. I got to take a selfie with Jackson Olson, and my life is basically complete now.

if you’ve never been to a Savannah Bananas game, DOOOO IT.

savannah, ga // day two

another day of rain and we are still all smiles!

we dedicated a whole morning to exploring the waterfront, and it was a fabulous decision. so many unique shops and yummy food with a front row seat to the river. incredible. add in the cobblestone and brick all around, I took approximately 238364909 pictures — and even more in my mind.

we enjoyed breakfast at our hotel and lunch at Dockside on River Street, with lots of wandering through the streets in between. right before we headed back to our hotel to freshen up for an exciting evening, we were invited to board and tour a Navy ship that was docked along the river. we all loved this!

Savannah, we hope to visit you again real soon!

savannah, ga // day one.

 oh, my! talk about C H A R M.

I swooned at every corner. literally, every single corner. even in the rain, she is everything we imagined and more.

we are staying right downtown in the most fabulous hotel, and we were upgraded at check in to a balcony suite that overlooks the street. so exciting! after we checked in (early), we headed across the street for a delicious lunch at Little Duck Diner, and then spent the rest of the afternoon wandering and swooning. we logged over 5 miles this day, and didn’t even see a fraction of the city. we didn’t walk down to the river because it started pouring on us, so that was on the agenda for the following day.

after we enjoyed a light dinner at the hotel, we enjoyed the pool all to ourselves until the rain came back around. basically, we are just so happy to be here for a couple of nights. I am grateful my kiddos get to experience this loooong before I did, and I love that we’re all experiencing it together for the first time.

have you been to Savannah before? if so, I'd love to hear your favorite parts!

nashville // a true friend.

I’ve (mostly) made peace with the fact that most friendships are not for a lifetime. very few are lasting but the majority last for a season. I’m grateful that this one is a lifer.

she has begged us for over a year to come visit, and we didn’t have the bandwidth or capacity to say yes. now that we’re here, I would go back and take back every single no if I could. life is precious. time is not guaranteed. why we spend so much of our life trying to fit into spaces where we are unwanted or not valued is a mystery to me.

the circumstances that brought us here this weekend are not my story to tell, but I must say this (first to myself and then to you): say yes to the people who love you as often as you are able. real love invites you to lay down your striving and find rest.

from elementary school and beyond, sharing each other’s faith in every season.

oh, how I love my Ellen.
