In honor of a milestone birthday year for two of my best friends and me, we dreamed up the best way we could think to celebrate: a trip to the Bahamas! And in May, right in between all of our big days, we jetted off to spend four days in paradise.
A hard-earned miracle:
The girls' trip made it out of the group chat!
We drove down to Atlanta the night before our flight, and flew direct from there to Nassau in under two hours. After we landed, we grabbed a taxi at the airport and rode a quick 20 minutes to our home for a long weekend: Baha Mar Resort. What a dream! There are several hotels within the resort, and we stayed in a one-bedroom suite with two balconies at the Grand Hyatt. It wowed us from the very beginning!
Our itinerary was simple: relax, recover, and enjoy each other's company. We didn't do any excursions, although there was plenty to choose from; we spent most of our time at the beach or pool, which is right where we wanted to be. There were plenty of pools to choose from, and there were plenty of lounge chairs to choose from on the beach, too. We had a front row seat to the ocean each day, even when we came down later in the day, and the water itself never felt crowded even when there were lots of people nearby.
We spent time at the resort's waterpark one morning, which was a lot of fun, but all three of us agreed that our all-around favorite day was our first full day at the resort. Why? Because we each rented chairs at the Baha Bay Beach Club, which gave us access to a beachfront infinity pool and stunning views of clear, blue ocean water. We were, also, able to use our chair rental fee towards food and beverages all day, as well as incredible poolside service. This is a must-do at this resort in my opinion, and we loved the seats we booked (chairs 228, 229, and 230). I made our reservations 90 days in advance after reading that access sells out quickly, and I would 100% do that again!
The four restaurants we ate at for dinner were all unique in style and food, and we loved them all. We ate at Pizza Lab, Marcus Fish & Chop House, Costa, and Filia throughout the weekend -- all of which I would personally eat at again. All three of us agreed that Marcus was our favorite in both food and atmosphere; we all splurged on the filet and it was genuinely unforgettable. The waterfront outdoor dining was like something out of a storybook, too. With the exception of Pizza Lab (which we ate at on our first day after lounging at Baha Bay), all required reservations weeks before.
For breakfast, we ate at at the breakfast buffet in Regatta (which was complimentary for me and my guests thanks to my status) for three mornings, and we ventured to the cutest Cafe Madeline to have a delicious and delightful French breakfast experience one morning, too.
We enjoyed ourselves with two official GNOs while there: the Skybar and the Jazz bar. Both were so much fun, but the jazz bar was my personal favorite because it was less like a bar and more like a place to dance! We loved all of the oldies that the live band played, and we danced our hearts out.
Overall, we had an amazing getaway!
We all dreamed about bringing our families back here one day in the future, because we loved it THAT much. I had read reviews of people not having the best guest experience on their stays, but we do not have that same story to tell. The only thing that I had to follow up on was a single charge on my account that did not belong to me, but the staff took it off my bill after a few days of checking out (pro tip: always check your hotel bills at check out, especially when room charges are the primary way to pay).
We were gifted several times by the hotel staff for our birthdays throughout our stay, too, which only added to our joy! I would personally return to the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in a heartbeat, and I absolutely loved that I got to experience this with my girls.
Here are a few more favorite snaps from our time on this gorgeous island...
