Last weekend was TJ's fall break, so we took a long-anticipated trip to visit some beloved family friends who live in a state we'd never been before: Ohio! We had been saving for and looking forward to this trip since the summer, and we were stoked to hit the road. I had never driven through Virginia, West Virginia, or Ohio before, and I was BLOWN AWAY by how gorgeous each state was --even just from the highway. And these areas in the fall....Lord, have mercy! All the bright, deep tones jumping out at us from the trees was almost too much to handle. Seriously! I had to keep catching my breath.
We got to Millfield late Friday night, and ate a big breakfast (the first of many incredible home-cooked meals our friends whipped up for us) before spending the day seeing all we could. We spent most of our day at Ohio University, the college where both Butch and Tracie attended, and it was so beautiful. The old buildings, fall colors exploding everywhere, and fun energy were an amazing combination. I may or may not have wanted to go back to college while I soaked all this in, just sayin'.
Everyone told us to bundle up for our trip, and we definitely took their recommendations into consideration as we packed -- but, y'all, the weather was SO perfect. The best combination of warm and chilly, so we were extra thankful for how God smiled on our trip in this way!
And did I mention how stunning the colors were? Okay, just checking. Now see for yourself...WOWZA!
